The workshop of designer Petri Seuri, where unique wooden furniture and the kube design lamps are created, is located on the yard of a modern log house in the middle of a rural landscape in Southwest Finland.
Concrete as a material has intrigued Seuri since he was studying design. Although concrete can be formed into a variety of shapes, making small items from it requires practice – and patience.
The product development for the lamp has involved work in finding the correct feel and quality of the material as well as the development of tools. According to Seuri, it is the timeless basic design of the kube lamp that challenges its maker: casting a round shape would be much easier.
